If you’re in a sticky situation, you might not be using the right glue.

If you’re in a sticky situation, you might not be using the right glue.

Understanding adhesives can be tricky to wrap your head around, so let us break it down simply: ⇩

1️⃣ Time yourself. How long does it take to assemble a fan, dip it in glue and apply it to the lash? Your glue needs to have dried by the time you release your isolation tweezers so your fans don’t stick together. It may be that you need to work with a faster glue, or a slightly slower one - because you can’t rush perfection.

2️⃣ Is it getting hot in here or is it just us? If your room is too hot or too humid then it can drastically alter the drying speed of your glue. Keep a thermometer and hydrometer on standby and check the environment matches up with the recommendations on your glue label.

3️⃣ You justify using a quicker glue if you use a glue ring. By using a glue ring, you are shortening the distance a lash has to travel with glue on the base to the natural lash so it will still be sticky when you get there.

4️⃣ Summer is coming (and so are our bikinis) but first, we have clients to lash. When it’s too hot then we need to change our drop of glue more often or otherwise it becomes chewier and more elastic. Our surroundings can change each day (it’s just typical British weather 🙄), so it’s important to either adjust our heat / humidity to accommodate or switch glue drying speeds.

At Silk Touch we have glues with drying speeds of 0.5, 1 and 2 second so you can find one that fits your style. If you aren’t sure which one to go for, fell free to contact us. We’re always happy to help.
